Reiki as a complementary therapy

If you haven’t yet explored the world of complementary therapies, you may be missing holistic options that can help to increase your energy levels, reduce stress, and improve your overall well-being.

There is energy inside us and all around us just waiting to be accessed for our personal use. The human body is thriving with electrical current which we don’t always feel or see, yet there is no denying that it exists within and around us.

Reiki as a complementary therapy, incorporates the use of universal energy and involves the placement of hands on different areas of the body to direct energy in order to alleviate discomfort or pain, increase calmness, release tension, reduce stress, or rejuvenate someone feeling fatigued, and enhance our overall well-being.

Describing how a Reiki session feels, is very much like trying to explain how an emotionally charged experience has affected you to another person – meaning that you can describe it in as fine detail as possible to someone, but not until you experience it for yourself can you comprehend the raw power that reiki has to offer.

There are two ways you can experience the benefits of Reiki:
1.      You can work with a certified Reiki practitioner or
2.      You can take a class to learn to perform Reiki on yourself

A trained Reiki practitioner is able to transfer universal energy through his or her hands and allow that energy to help assist the recipient.  A normal Reiki session can last anywhere from 15 minutes to 1.5 hours and the client either sits in a chair or lies on a massage table, fully clothed, as the practitioner lightly touches the body.

Clients will often fall into a deep refreshing sleep during a reiki session and wake up feeling so much better than when they arrived!
