Reiki courses at Energy Centre
Reiki Courses at Energy Centre are taught by Dorna Revie, a Reiki and Karuna Reiki Master, who has been practicing and teaching Reiki for over 15 years. As well as personal Reiki consultations, Energy Centre offers the below Reiki diploma courses in both French and English.
Learning REiki
Reiki cannot be taught or explained through lectures but must be experienced. The ability to use Reiki is passed on from Reiki Master to student by an attunement. This involves cleansing and balancing the energy channels in the student and allowing them to become sensitive and responsive to the life force energy.
Energy Centre offers small group courses over a weekend to teach students how to administer Reiki. It is often the case that a Reiki attunement accompanies a significant phase in an individual's personal and spiritual development. Reiki is available to anyone and is not dependant on a person's intellectual capacity, religion or spirituality. Reiki has been taught successfully to thousands of people from all backgrounds. A Typical Reiki Session
A typical Reiki session lasts about 45 minutes. The client lies down fully clothed and the practitioner gently lays their hands on specific areas, channeling the Reiki energy into the client. The technique is very gentle, and there is no pain experienced.
Energy Centre offers a range of Reiki training courses so that you can learn the technique for yourself. They are taught as group lessons of about 2 and 6 students, and are usually run over a weekend. The Origins of Reiki
The word Reiki is made up of two Japanese words, Rei and Ki, together meaning spiritually guided life force energy.
There are many meanings associated with each Kanji character. The interpretation above is the most useful and meaningful as it closely describes the experience that most people have of Reiki. Although Reiki (healing energy) has been around since the early days of human history, Dr Mikao Usui discovered this particular method and named it Usui Reiki. Dr Usui (5th Aug 1885 - 9th Mar 1926) was born in the Japanese province of Gifu. He worked as a secretary to a politician called Shimpei Goto who later became the mayor of Tokyo. Dr Usui was a Buddhist and received the gift of Reiki healing while meditating on Mount Kurama. He went on to open a Reiki practice in Harajuku, Tokyo in 1920 and trained up other Reiki masters to carry on the healing method. In 2012 Energy Centre traveled to Japan in the footsteps of Mikao Usui. Read about our visit to the memorial to Mikao Usui, or our hike over Mt Kurama, where Usui first encountered the Reiki energy. Reiki was introduced to the rest of the world by Mrs Hawayo Takata from Hawaii. After her husband died in 1930, leaving her to raise their two children, Mrs Takata became severely ill and went to Japan in search of a treatment. Wishing to try alternative methods of healing her doctor suggested the Reiki clinic in Tokyo. Fully healed, and convinced of the strength of Reiki, Mrs Takata brought the Reiki method back to her home in Hawaii. During her lifetime she initiated 22 Reiki masters who went on to spread Reiki to all corners of the globe. There are currently millions of people practicing Reiki across the world. |
